Harvey Crescent Black Point
Burke Urban’s initial involvement in this built-form project stemmed from the Black Point free-holding scheme. As a result of Burke Urban subdividing 220 allotments, of which 146 were created as part of the South Australian Government’s plan to relocate Crown tenure beach shacks, Burke Urban ended up with the ownership of a parcel of land on the cliffs at the Western-most point of the main beach at Black Point, or the media described ‘Millionaire’s Row” or “the Golden Mile” because of recent lot sales prices at record levels for the Yorke Peninsula.
Burke Urban soon established a vision to subdivide this parcel of land in to a cluster of 6 narrow, but long allotments for tourist accommodation. It was difficult for the market to visualise building on the space that had been created so Burke Urban established a Joint Venture partnership with two local investors to manage the construction process. Marshall Thompson Homes was contracted as the master builder and Burke Urban and its Joint Venture partner project managed and marketed the project to its final completion in 2008. The superb homes have sold for prices ranging from $950,000 to $1,100,000. The first of these was retained by Burke Urban and is rented to eager holiday-makers. Dwelling No. 2 is now available for resale.
